Barking Mad: I’m Doing Dog Portraits
Who would have though a few years ago that Minimal Woman (that’s my superhero name) would be spending countless hours tackling the hirsute minutiae of dog portraits – and, crucially, love every second of it? I wouldn’t have put any money on it.
Yet, here we are, and I’m about to let you know how this one boy changed it all. It’s quite relevant that he is a personal friend, and I’ve spent hours at pub quizzes in his company, watching those big eyes transition from anxious to loving, to Joe Pesci style bellicosity in a matter of minutes.
I’m so fond of Freddie the Jack-Chi by now, the unthinkable happened. I agreed to draw his official portrait, full detail, minimalism be damned. And I’m someone who usually can’t stand the look of a piece I’ve just finished for at least a month, but this one I loved from start to finish, without missing a beat.
So, alright, you win. You’ve been asking me for years and the time has come. I will be opening dog commissions starting… NOW.
My email address is [email protected]. Contact me for all commission enquiries. Or head over to my Portrait Commissions page for more information and to see more examples of my (non-dog) work.
