Commissions: Portrait for Social Media Branding

When Monica from Brazil wrote to ask for a commission which would serve as a social media branding tool, I could almost hear the angels sing and the creative floodgates opening. There’s nothing more eminently suitable for me than the process of capturing a person at their most vibrant and finding the essence of what makes them unique.

She wanted her dreads included in the portrait as they are such an integral part of her presence – now, I’d normally go for eyes and nothing else to distract from the light within, but I’m glad she made this request. It may have taken weeks, but I’ve learnt so much technically, and it was such a joyous process, following the tendrils, letting my mind wander and re-focus. Almost like meditation.

Here she is. She looks like a queen because, darling, when you get me on board, I will make you shine and glow with otherworldly radiance. And I’m a really humble, self-deprecating person to boot.
